Daniele Saracino is a political scientist and migration scholar. Before he joined the Bonn International Centre for Conflict Studies (bicc) as a researcher and the Institute of Political Science at Leuphana University of Lüneburg as a fellow, he was a lecturer at the Department of Government at the University of Essex and postdoctoral researcher as well as research associate at the Department of Political Science and Sociology at the University of Bonn (Germany). ln his work, he developed a concept of solidarity and addressed the question of solidarity in the asylum system of the European Union. He has led research projects on migration governance in Southern Africa as well as on the migratory movements from Africa to Europe during the Arab Spring. His research continues to focus on the questions of solidarity and the rule of law in Europe’s asylum and border control policies.

Daniele Saracino ist Politikwissenschaftler und Migrationsforscher. Bevor er sich dem Bonn International Centre for Conflict Studies (bicc) als Researcher und dem Institut für Politikwissenschaft an der Leuphana Universität Lüneburg als Fellow anschloss, war er als Lecturer am Department of Government der University of Essex und davor als Postdoktorand sowie wissenschaftlicher Mitarbeiter am Institut für Politikwissenschaft und Soziologie an der Universität Bonn tätig. In seiner Arbeit beschäftigt er sich mit dem Solidaritätsbegriff, insbesondere in Bezug auf die Frage der Solidarität in der Europäischen Union und ihrer Asylpolitik. Daniele Saracino leitete Forschungsprojekte zur Migrationssteuerung im südlichen Afrika sowie zu den Migrationsbewegungen aus Afrika nach Europa während des Arabischen Frühlings. Seine Forschung konzentriert sich weiterhin auf die Fragen der Solidarität und der Rechtsstaatlichkeit in Europas Flüchtlings,- Asyl- und Grenzkontrollpolitik.
