Abubakar Rugamba is a Burundian refugee who has resided in the Kakuma refugee camp in Kenya for the past decade. He is the founder and CEO of Easy Fitgang, dedicated to enhancing the mental well-being, social cohesion and self-reliance of both refugees and the local host community in Kakuma refugee camp and Kalobeyei settlement. He holds a certificate in social work and community development from Masinde Muliro University and a certificate in liberal studies from Xavier University, where he is currently pursuing a degree in sustainable development. He has worked as a research assistant with various academic institutions, including the project “Women, Forced Migration – and Peace? Peacebuilding Practices of Women in Refugee Camps” at Osnabrück University.
