Sayed Mahdi Mosawi is a research fellow at Kulturwissenschaftliche Institut Essen (KWI). He holds his PhD in Sociology from Hacettepe University. As a visiting scholar, Mosawi also followed his studies at the Philipps University of Marburg. His key areas of research expertise are refugees issues, forced migration, gender, and masculinities. His current work focuses on the gendered everyday experiences of male refugees in Germany and highlights integration challenges. He previously contributed to various studies that analyze migration complexity in Afghanistan and social issues Afghan refugees encounter in the host and transit countries including Iran and Turkey.
